We will be closed on the bank holidays (25th December, 26th December and 1st January). In the event of an emergency, please call 111. We wish you and your families a safe and very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
NHS referrals
We receive over 1,500 referrals a year for NHS treatment at Neo Orthodontics. If you would like to refer your patient for treatment on the NHS, we are happy to help!
NHS orthodontic
treatment
At Neo Orthodontics, we offer NHS treatment in routine cases for patients up to 18 years of age. To be eligible for NHS treatment, patients must score 3.6 or above on the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN).
Because our waiting lists are so long, we recommend referring patients to us before they are 16 years old. You can check the GDP guidelines for when to refer for orthodontic treatment.
NHS waiting list
Once you have referred a patient to us, they will be placed on our New Patient Waiting List, subject to the assessment outcome. If they are found eligible for NHS treatment, they will then move to our Treatment Waiting List.
- New Patient Waiting List: Approx. 18 – 24 months
- Treatment Waiting List: Approx. 3 – 6 months
These timelines are subject to change. We will contact your patient by letter when we are ready to arrange an NHS orthodontic assessment with them.
How to refer
All NHS patients must be referred to us by their family dentist. Patients should preferably be referred when all of their permanent teeth have erupted, and early referral is preferable to late referral if a problem is found.
